A beach date – exploring the blue bottles that had washed ashore and anything else they could find in the sand. And playing a game of guess what au found!
Ethan just loves his school, R.O.C.K. – on this day they had paper plane races. If I can upload a video later I will – it’s pretty cute!
His best bud is Marcus (pronounced Mahh-cus, not Marr-cus) in the green shirt.
Ethan also signs his name every morning as part of the kids’ new routine. He’s pretty good at it!
As it turns out being 40 is not much different from 39. However, I won’t be counting birthdays from now on!!
Mike threw me a surprise party which was amazing! I had hummed and hawed about having a party for a month or more as I wasn’t sure how to manage it – you know, it may be too cold in August, how would we manage all the children, how would i get my own kids too bed…..etc. So I opted not to have a party and go out for dinner instead. I’m grateful that Mike took on the party as I clearly wasn’t capable of it! And because he organised everything, it was out of my hands so I had no choice but to have a great time and not worry about my guests!! Mike made a lovely spread of food – delicious BBQ, slow cooked meats and salads. And he had canopies set up in the backyard as it was kind of drizzling during the day. He even ordered bales of hay for people to sit on outside, which was awesome. It was a pretty good turn out -many close friends and even a few friends from work, which was so nice. At one stage I counted 22 kids in the living room! What fun!
Birthday lunch with the Waverley crew – my workmates.
The boys decorated a Lego and lollie themed cake.
The party…
The chef and his sous-chefs
Doesn’t get much better than the science in the swamp! We took Jonah along and the boys had a great time together as these three get along so well. We saw fruit bats, reptiles and fish up close and we even touched some of them. We also partook in fun science experiments and spent a good deal of time chatting to a talking tree – a highlight for Ethan!
Tomas dressed up as Tom from the book The Time Hunters which is about a boy who travels to different time periods and has adventures. Tom dones regular clothes for the most part and two swords – an easy costume to whip up! The morning if the parade tho Tomas mentions that Tom fights as a gladiator towards the end of the book so he needs a ‘sack’ (material over his shoulder which i had to explain wasn’t actually a sack). Luckily I had an old sheet that I ripped up and tied around Tomas – all in time to catch my bus to work!! Whew!!
Tomas really gets into character!!!
