On Saturday, the 23rd, we joined our good friend Nelika for a trip to Cockatoo Island, located in Sydney Harbour. The Island is playing host to this year’s Biennale Contemporary Art Show. We took a ferry to the island, which I believe was Tomas’ favourite part of the trip. We spent the better part of the morning touring the island which was full of historical relics from the early 1800s when it was first used as a prison for convicts, then later as a shipyard where Navy Ships were built during World Wars one and two. I have to say, the historical aspect of the island was amazing! There were old docking areas, cranes and other equipment, and stone buildings.
