Last Saturday (April 17th), I had the pleasure of kayaking with 3 girlfriends. It was my first time sea kayaking on ocean waters and what a thrill it was! We put in at Bundeena, a village located about 30km south of Sydney on the southern edge of the Royal National Park. Bundeena is surrounded by the National Park with beautiful beaches lining the shore. Opposite is a more developed area with a marina.
We had a tour guide as we were unfamiliar with the area, however, in retrospect, it wasn’t necessary.
We put in at 9:30am when the tide was high. We paddled along the park side of the bay and enjoyed lovely views of the dense forest. There were some very shallow sandy areas that we had to avoid on the way back as the tide was going out and after only 3 hours of paddling, the water level had dropped quite a bit.
We lucked out with the weather that day. It was gorgeous – sunny & 25C!
Good job Beth. What a gorgeous day to kayak. What a life! Glad you’re taking advantage of the Aussie living. Take care
